About Claar Estates - Vineyard 94

Planted in 2011 this site was created to support growth and add blending opportunities to our winemaking staff. White Bluffs Vineyard 2 is operated within the Columbia Valley AVA. The soil type is similar to White Bluffs Vineyard 1 consisting mainly of sandstone to a depth of 500+ feet down to basalt bedrock. The White Bluffs section of the Columbia River is ancient lake bed sediment that was formed millions of years ago and the resulting soil is termed Ringold Formation. The Missoula Floods washed away all the surrounding Ringold Formation making the White Bluffs a unique growing area in the world.
