About Corvus Vineyard
Corvus Vineyard is located in the Red Mountain AVA the smallest AVA in Washington State at just over 4000 acres. Located in the rain shadow of the cascade mountain range in the south central region of Washington State, the Red Mountain AVA is acclaimed for its red varietals and is well known for its superb growing conditions - well drained soil, good air movement and long warm growing days with cool nights during the growing season. The region consistently produces some of the highest scoring wines across the globe. The vineyard is planted in a high density design (5x5), under drip irrigation using VSP trellising techniques. The cultivars planted include Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Petite Sirah, Petit Verdot and a small amount of Mourvèdre. Why Red Mountain? As we became more enamored and educated with wine, we learned that the saying "great wines begin with great fruit" was more than a tagline...it was the truth. Years before it was its own AVA, we discovered Red Mountain and soon realized that this unique geological area held something special. We were drawn back over and over by the intensity, depth and complexity of the fruit and wines, but also by the people of Red Mountain who share a common love, respect and passion for the land. Places such as Red Mountain that possess intense growing conditions, ideal soil and elevation are not easily found. We knew that we needed to be part of this special place and that, in time, with continued focus on growing spectacular fruit and making great wines, Red Mountain would come to be known as a premier growing region with international acclaim. We modeled Corvus vineyard after smaller, European vineyards with high density planting, allowing us to maintain extreme focus in the vineyard and always act as good stewards of the land to maximize flavors. Our journey is similar to Red Mountain's as we grow and establish a loyal following among wine lovers from around the world.
