About Matahiwi Vineyard Limited

Matahiwi Estate is a family owned winery. Matahiwi is sheltered by the Tararuas mountain range and enjoys a long and dry growing season with balmy warm days and pleasantly cool nights. The climate and the exposed stony sub-soils make the area ideal for growing grapes. At Matahiwi Estate, we understand it takes more than just good soil and an agreeable climate to produce great wine. It takes team work, passion and a shared vision. The united collaboration between Alastair and winemaker Jane Cooper has built a successful business creating wines that have the Matahiwi hallmarks of balanced flavours, mouth-filling texture and a lingering finish.
